Geotechnical Engineering-I  (CE-331)
Course Content: Introduction to geotechnical engineering, basic properties and characteristics of soil, soil grain and aggregate, clay mineralogy, weight, volume and moisture-density relationship, soil structure and fabric, index properties of soil, identification and classification of soil, principles of total and effective stress, soil-water, permeability, seepage and flow nets, fundamental of soil liquefaction, stress distribution, soil compacting, one-dimensional consolidation, stress-strain-strength characteristics of soil.

Course Content: Techniques of sub-surface investigation, Lateral earth pressure, Seismic lateral earth pressure, Slope stability, Bearing capacity of shallow and deep foundation, Settlement computation, Settlement and distortion of shallow and deep foundations
